2014- 2015 - This ministry began in Arizona by Ren who is a Christian. Her husband Mike ended up going through four (4) operations and ended up in I.C.U. Afterwards he went to a Medical Rehab/Nursing Home for almost a year.
They lost their home & she lost her job. They continue to minister, and she was still crocheting and freely giving her handmade items to others in the rehab/nursing home. While her husband was learning to walk, again.
2016-2017, When the surgeons and doctors released her husband, they ended up moving back to Oklahoma. At this time, she became his caregiver and was and still crocheting.
2018 - Gammy's Crochet Creations. She was crocheting things from doll clothes to adut sizes. A friend of hers who had cancer reached out to her about making some hats for chemo patients. And she did. Her friend passed away not long afterwards.
In 2018, she started working at a nursing home, again. She seen they had a crochet group there. And started attending it after work and on her days off. She became friends with them. The resident who started it passed away.
2019, she knew how much the residents enjoyed crocheting that she continued the group. And it was named "Crochet & Pray."
She ended up having a stroke. And was unable to use her left side. Several months later she found out that she had a rare auto-immune disorder called Guilian-Barre Sydrome (GBS). She ended up in I.C.U. receiving treatment. And then went to a medical rehab for physical, occupational and speech therapy. She was diagnosed with CIDP.
2021, Since she is left-handed, she couldn't use a hook. She ended up teaching herself to crochet, again. She made her first hat and was led to start Hats For The Homeless OK.
Since the launching of this ministry, it has grown over the years. The volunteers are blessed to be able to donate hats, scarfs, gloves, sweaters, afghans, and many other items to reach out to the homeless, those in recovery, veterans, chemo patients, elderly, infants, children, & shelters.
